Illinois River Valley Red Cross gets new board member
The American Red Cross of the Illinois River Valley is pleased to announce the appointment of Glenn M. Nixon to the organization’s board of directors.
Glenn is a real estate agent with a strong background in law enforcement, retiring as Senior Patrol Sergeant after 25 years of service. He is currently an Illinois licensed Real Estate Broker at Real Living Speckman Realty in Bourbonnais.
The American Red Cross of the Illinois River Valley serves 1.1 million people in six counties in Northern Illinois including Grundy, Kankakee, Will, Kendall, LaSalle and Putnam.
He began working as a private contractor teaching for the military, federal law enforcement and police agencies across the nation. He was assigned to a multi-regional narcotics interdiction task force. Glenn was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2004 and served as Patrol Supervisor. He continues to teach Firearms tactics, Use of Force, and Concealed Carry for Right On Target in Bourbonnais. Glenn also serves as vice chair on the Riverside Medical Center Foundation Board and is currently the board chairman of the Kankakee County Training Center for the Developmentally Disabled (KCTC).
Glenn helped build the Bourbonnais community’s School Resource Officer Program and the Kankakee County Teen Court Program serving as the vice president. He served as an officer of the Kankakee County Juvenile Officer’s Association and also served on the Illinois School Resource Officer’s Association Board. He was elected to the Kankakee County Board serving on the Economic Alliance, Planning and Zoning, and Criminal Justice Committees.

The volunteer board includes more than 10 civic and corporate leaders from a range of professional backgrounds for the region that serves 1.1 million people in six counties in northern Illinois. The board is led by Chairperson J.D. Ross of Joliet Junior College (retired).
