IL will open new small business grants June 22

During his press conference today, Gov. Pritzker announced several funding opportunities, including a new one specific to small businesses impacted by COVID-19. The Business Interruption Grants will given to 3,500 businesses that “experienced a limited ability to operate due to COVID-19 related closures.” Applications for the grant are supposed to be made available Monday, June 22 through the IL. Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, which can be found here.

Money is supposed to be given priority to businesses in “disproportionately impacted areas.” Funding is also specifically available for bars and restaurants, salons and barber shops, and gyms/fitness centers. Some details of the grant program are here. But specifics on grant requirements and application details have not been released. Again, the application will not be available until Monday, June 22.

The Chamber will continue to inform you on the details of this program and others as we receive them. Please contact us if you have questions or need assistance at [email protected] or at 815-942-0113.
