Top 7 Reasons to Join the Chamber

Have you ever wondered what exactly the chamber does or thought about joining? Here are 7 reasons to make an investment in the Grundy County Chamber of Commerce today!

  1. Networking

The Chamber provides you with plenty of opportunities to network with fellow business owners. Coffee & Company is our morning networking event that is held from 8-9 A.M. once a month. Business after Hours is our night networking event that is typically held on the third Thursday of the month from 5-7 P.M. Our luncheons and workshops also provide opportunities to network with the business community.

  1. Marketing & Advertising

Members have the opportunity to utilize e-blasts and newsletter inserts to advertise at a low cost. All members are listed on our website for free and can post deals, calendar events and job postings and are also listed in our yearly resource guide. In addition to the website, we also have a new chamber app that people can utilize on the go to look up our business directory and hot deals. Your business also has the opportunity to do business spotlights to be submitted to the local newspapers as well as share news in our monthly newsletter. Businesses can also take part in our new resident greeter program to reach residents throughout the county or can take part in our new business welcome program to reach new businesses in the area.

  1. Credibility

According to The Schapiro Group, an Atlanta-based strategic consulting firm, when consumers know that a small business is a member of the chamber, they are 80% more likely to purchase goods or services from the company in the future. Businesses also enjoy a 68% increase in its reputation when consumers know they are a member of the chamber.

  1. Training & Personal Development

Taking part in our monthly luncheons allows you to learn about the latest trends and business tools at an affordable rate. Recently we had Certified Master Speaker, Jean Kuhn, come in and talk about using Facebook Live and Peak Development Strategies President Mary Erlain in to talk about the different generations in the workplace. We also have our Business Expansion Network and Women in Business group that provide opportunities to learn more about business and personal development.

  1. Have a Presence

We have three different locations that serve as visitor centers for the area where chamber members can display their company brochures and business cards. On the chamber website, members are listed in the business directory which includes a link to your business website. Our website receives 60,000 views per month.

  1. Community Involvement

We have a few community events including the State of the Village in Minooka, the State of the Village in Channahon and Family Fest that allow businesses to directly participate in the community. By developing the local business community the whole community benefits. The more people who shop local the more money that is invested back into our schools, libraries, fire districts and county.

  1. Referrals

Referrals can be one of your business’ greatest assets. We have quite a few inquiries each year about area businesses from community members and business owners and have many people throughout the year stop in at our visitor’s centers and pick up area information. We are often the first call or stop when someone is in need of a service or product and we only refer members.
