Just Kidding Around celebrates 30 years

MORRIS – From infant to pre-teen, Just Kidding Around has been offering casual clothes to the perfect holiday outfit for kids for 30 years – a milestone they are celebrating in a big way Sept. 18-20.

The children’s specialty retail store, located at 218 Liberty Street in Morris, offers a unique selection of children’s apparel, accessories and gifts. For 30 years mother-daughter team Maureen Headrick and Monica Brehm have owned the boutique that provides quality apparel in a blend of classic and trendy styles from sizes preemie to 16.

“What keeps us going is our love for the business, our downtown and community, and our many wonderful customers and friends who have supported us through the years,” Brehm said.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, Lucky Bubbles Pop Up Shop by Laki Hawaiian Ice will be in store with fun bath products for children. Friday, Sept. 19 at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. local artist Terri Clemmons will present a free, interactive storytime, a sign language mini lesson and more. Reservations for these activities are required by calling the store at 815-942-3999.

Closing the anniversary celebration out will be a Sourdough & Granola Pop Up Shop from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20. In addition, there will be more than 25 raffle prizes from vendors, gift certificates, special discounts, and refreshments all three days.

The store carries brands such as Mayoral, Isobella and Chloe, Little Me, Under Armour and more. Just Kidding Around also is your stop for gifts for babies including personalized blankets, picture frames, books and more to welcome a new baby.

Just Kidding Around belongs to both the Morris Retail & Restaurant Association and the Grundy County Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

“Just Kidding Around is every mom, grandma, and aunt’s dream store. They have an outfit for every occasion for your child that will make them look their best, comfortably,” Chamber President & CEO Christina Van Yperen said.

The boutique is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. During holiday season, it is open Sundays from 12 – 4 p.m.

“We plan to continue to be a presence on Liberty Street and to support the downtown. We will always offer quality merchandise, provide knowledgeable and friendly customer service and give back to the community through our Kids Club program,” Headrick said.
